FILL ME UP - TASHA COBBS

“You provide the fire, I’ll provide the sacrifice. You provide the spirit, and I will open up inside”. I have heard this song a lot of times but yesterday when I listened to it, I took something out of it. Tasha Cobbs is saying if God provides the fire, she will provide the fire. The meaning I got from this song is that it takes two to make it work. It takes your effort plus God to make something work. God is providing his so you need to also provide yours.

It’s like a duet. A duet needs two people to perform. If one person decides not to come, it ruins it all. It needs the effort of two people. When you need God to do something for you, he expects you to do your part. If it’s praying, if it’s fasting, if it’s reading the Bible, if it’s sowing a seed, if it’s giving to a homeless person, if it’s cleaning the church, if it’s feeding someone, if it’s giving your friend money, whatever it is that you need to do, do it. We can’t wait on God to do something when our hands are crossed and we ain’t doing our parts. The Bible said that Isaac asked his father Abraham “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide” (Genesis 22: 7-8). Abraham did his part which was obedience. He didn’t know why God asked him to sacrifice his only son but what he knew was God said I should do this so that’s what I am going to do. Maybe God has a purpose and through this it will be known to everyone. Do your part.

There is two ways to this. It’s either you work with God or you work by yourself. God will always provide the sacrifice, you provide the fire. It takes two to tango and it even says in Ecclesiastes 4:9 that "two are better than one". Believe in God and follow his ways. Let him be your partner and your companion. Let him fill you up till you overflow. May God bless you and have a lovely week.

Prayer: God, we thank you and we praise your name. As we are here today, we pray that you give us the strength to work with you. If you will provide the sacrifice let us always provide the fire Lord. Let us work with you so you can bless us till we overflow. This we ask in Jesus name, amen.
