THE GOD WHO MULTIPLES

There was a young boy in the Bible whose age did not prevent Jesus from using what he had. Jesus did not look at him and say, “You are too young.” Instead, He took what was available and used it for something greater. There was a time when Jesus was preaching and was followed by a large crowd. The people had been with Him for a long time, and eventually, they became hungry. The disciples began to worry about how they would find enough food for everyone. They had forgotten that they were walking with the Miracle Worker. Instead of looking at who was with them, they began to focus on what they did not have. In fact, even if they wanted to buy food for everyone, they did not have enough money to feed such a large number of people. But Andrew, one of the disciples, mentioned something. However, even as he mentioned it, his doubts got in the way. He said: “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?” (John 6:8–9, NLT). Andrew could see that there was something available, but because it looked too small compared to the size of the problem, he questioned its value. But this is where Jesus stepped in. Jesus told the people to sit down. The Bible says: “Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted.” (John 6:11, NLT). Everyone ate until they were full, and there were still leftovers.

The little became many.

Many of us are just like the disciples in this story. Sometimes, we face situations that test whether we truly remember who we are walking with. We focus on the size of the problem instead of the greatness of our God. We forget that we are walking with the Miracle Worker. Some of us are also like Andrew. We know there is something inside of us. We know that God has placed something in our hands, but because it seems small, we begin to question its importance. “What can this little thing do?” “What can I really achieve with what I have?”. “My gift is too small. ”My experience is not enough”. “I do not have much to offer.” But Jesus is in the business of taking what looks small and making it great. He saw five loaves and two fish. Others may have seen an insignificant meal, but Jesus saw something He could multiply. The Bible says that He took it and gave thanks. Sometimes, we are waiting for God to give us something bigger before we become grateful. But perhaps God is waiting for us to recognise, appreciate, and give thanks for what we already have. What is small in your hands may be great in the hands of God. The little gift you have. The little idea. The little opportunity. The little strength. The little faith. The little resource. Do not ignore it simply because it does not look like much. Give it to God.

Because unless there is something to surrender, there is nothing to multiply. It is like mathematics: anything multiplied by zero is still zero. 0 × 0 = 0. 1 × 0 = 0. 100 × 0 = 0. But when you place something in God's hands, He can multiply it.

When the little you have is surrendered to Him, He can turn it into more than enough. The boy gave what he had. It may not have looked like much, but in the hands of Jesus, five loaves and two fish became enough to feed thousands, with leftovers remaining. So do not despise what God has placed in your hands. Do not underestimate yourself because of your age. Do not disqualify yourself because you think you do not have enough. Jesus does not need you to have everything. He simply asks, “What do you have?” And when you give Him what you have, He is able to multiply it. I believe this is a season where God is calling us to recognise what is already inside of us and what is already in our hands. Stop focusing on what you do not have and begin to thank God for what you do have. Because the little you appreciate today may be the very thing God uses to elevate you tomorrow. It is time for expansion. It is time for growth. It is time for elevation. We are about to enter into a season of transformation in the mighty name of Jesus! May God open your eyes to see the value in what He has placed inside of you. May He take what seems little and multiply it beyond your expectations. As you continue to give Him thanks and remain grateful, may He do exceedingly more in your life. May the little in your hands become many in the hands of God. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!
