THE AIRDROP STYLE

The long battle between Apple and Android still goes on today, and honestly, I’m always Team Apple and that cannot change. As Android users, I’m sure you don’t know what AirDrop is, do you? Well, let me take this opportunity to enlighten you. AirDrop is a built-in Apple feature that lets you wirelessly send photos, videos, documents, and web links to nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Android users may know this feature as Quick Share. But let’s focus on our very popular Apple feature. The key word here is “nearby.” Without the devices being nearby, AirDrop will not work. And that brings us to today’s blog:

The AirDrop Style

What does this really look like in our walk with God? Some people only turn on their AirDrop when they are ready to receive or send things. Others keep their AirDrop on constantly, always ready to receive without needing to be prompted. In Christianity, the aim is to have your “AirDrop” on at all times.

Having your AirDrop on is like positioning yourself and always being ready to receive from God. In this way, He can speak to you or prompt you at any given moment. It means being spiritually available and always ready to hear from Him. It allows you to stay “nearby.” On the other hand, turning your AirDrop on only when you want something is like only coming to God when it feels convenient or when you need help. This can create the mindset of, “I need God only when it suits me.”

We can see this idea in the story of Samuel in the Bible. Samuel was born to Hannah and Elkanah and was dedicated to God, so he lived with the prophet Eli. The Bible tells us that even as a young boy, Samuel served the Lord. In ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭3‬:‭3‬, the Bible says: The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God. Samuel later heard a voice calling him, but he thought it was Eli calling. After this happened several times, Eli told him that if he heard the voice again, he should respond: Speak, Lord, your servant is listening (1 Samuel 3:9, NLT). Although Samuel had never heard God’s voice before, one thing stands out: he made himself available to hear from God. The Bible specifically mentions that Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God.The Ark of God represented God’s presence among His people, the Israelites. Samuel stayed close to God’s presence, and because he was nearby, he was able to hear when God called him.

When you are close to someone, it becomes easy to talk with them, hear them, and spend time with them. That is how our relationship with God should be. We should not only go to Him when we need something. We should remain close to Him at all times, always ready to listen and receive what He wants to say. And that is what makes a relationship with God beautiful. May God help us as we build a deeper relationship with Him, amen.
